YOUTH ALIVE! KENYA’S INVOLVEMENT AT THE PEOPLE’S DIALOGUE FESTIVAL 2024
Youth Alive! Kenya will be taking part in The 6th edition of the Festival scheduled to take place from 6th to 9th March 2024 within Nairobi. We recognize the pivotal role that economic empowerment plays in fostering sustainable development, particularly through the lens of skills acquisition and access to dignified employment opportunities. As an organization deeply committed to youth development, we recognize the multifaceted challenges young people face in securing meaningful livelihoods. Hence, this panel discussions will serve as a vital platform to delve into the critical interplay between skills development, decent work, and the overarching goal of sustainability, as perceived through the lens of Youth Alive Kenya’s ethos.
Session 1
Title: Skills and Decent Work for Youth towards Sustainability
Youth Alive Kenya will host a panel discussion titled “Skills and Decent Work for Youth towards Sustainability” on March 7th, 2024 at the People’s Dialogue Festival from 15:00 to 16:00.
This forum will explore the critical connection between skills development, decent work, and youth empowerment in achieving sustainability.
Key topics to be discussed include:
Exploring the existing landscape of skills development initiatives tailored for the youth demographic within Kenya.
Examining the challenges and opportunities inherent in accessing dignified work, crucial for fostering economic stability among young people.
Dissecting the symbiotic relationship between investing in youth skills and fostering sustainable development objectives.
Deliberating on the pivotal roles of policy frameworks and collaborative efforts between government entities and community-based organizations in bolstering youth empowerment endeavors.
The panel will feature distinguished representatives from diverse spheres, including figures from the Youth Enterprise Fund Office (Government), as well as youth-focused and youth-led Community-Based Organizations (CBOs). Their collective expertise and insights will enrich the discourse, fostering an inclusive and holistic dialogue aimed at charting a path towards sustainable youth empowerment. This event aims to bridge the gap between youth and sustainable livelihoods by fostering dialogue and collaboration.

Title: Breaking Barriers; Empowering Men as Allies in Unpaid Care Work
Join us for a discussion on men’s role in tackling the burden of unpaid care work disproportionately borne by women on March 7th, 2024 at the People’s Dialogue Festival from 16:00 to 17:00
This session will:
Discuss the impact of unequal care responsibilities on women’s lives and its connection to gender-based violence (GBV) and sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR).
Explore how men can become allies by sharing caregiving responsibilities and advocating for change.
Identify strategies and best practices for engaging men and promoting policy changes.
Expected outcomes:
Increased awareness of men’s role in addressing unpaid care work.
Identification of best practices and challenges.
Actionable recommendations for policy change and collaboration.
