Youth and Beyond Youth

Youth Alive! Kenya - July 4, 2020 - 0 comments

Youth and Beyond Youth is a project designed to empower youth organizations and the Kenyan citizenry to have a voice and constructively engage in development processes.

The project targets youth and people with disabilities to form vibrant movements that activate participation in youth groups to enable active contribution and participation in development  processes for good governance, democratic transformation, transparency and accountability.

The project has established 12 working groups in Kenya within the 12 counties of operation: Mombasa, Nairobi, Kisumu, Siaya, Kakamega,Uasin Gishu, Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado, Kirinyaga, Murang’a and Garissa. The groups are platforms for advocacy, with each county having its own challenges facing the youth.

The project has facilitated networking between:

  • YAK member organizations and regional partners in Zimbabwe, Youth Empowerment & Transformation Trust (YETT), where our member organizations receive funding for cooperation initiatives (YCI)
  • Partner organizations, through GALE workshops organized by the National Council for Swedish Youth Organizations, the donor supporting this project

Other major achievements of this project have been the Summer Academy 2012-2013 and Global Youth Network (GYN) 2014-2015.
