Kushiriki Ni Jukumu Letu is a project designed to empower local civil service organizations (CSOs), youths (male and female including people with disabilities) in eleven Kenyan counties (Nairobi, Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Machakos, Kajiado, Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Kisumu, Kakamega, Garissa). It aims to form vibrant movements that enhance public participation in citizen-driven reform and good governance, democratic transformation and political leadership participation.

Project Outcomes

With Support from Uraia-Kenya since 2017, the project has supported the establishment of 10 Youth County assemblies that have played a role in advocating for youth spaces through youth participation in County Integrated Development Plans (CIDP) and Annual Development Plan (ADP) processes and the Budget Cycle. It has also played a big role in advocating for good governance from the duty bearers. 342 youth in the selected counties have been involved in leadership processes through Political Leadership Training. The project has also enhanced the visibility of youth who participated and got elected in the August 2017 General elections by involving them in youth matters and lobbying on enactment of youth-friendly policies and legislations.
