Background
NDI is a capacity-building institute which has worked with 156 countries since its inception in 1983. The overall objective of the program is to improve the ability of citizens, civic groups and political actors to advocate for and operationalize greater public financial accountability at the county level based on analysis of the key budget documents.
The implementing partners include; TEAM and Youth Alive! Kenya (Y.A.K) in Kisumu; CARITUS in Kitui and CEDC in Busia respectively. The teams have contributed meaningfully in their engagements by sharing their key pointers in regards to improved programming and to steer cross-county strategy sharing.
HUSIKA (Let’s Get Involved) is a nine -month project (July 2022-March 2023) being implemented in Kisumu County by Youth Alive! Kenya (Y.A.K).
The overall goal of the project is to contribute towards enhanced public financial transparency and accountability in Kisumu County through capacity development and civic engagement. Husika has two main specific objectives;
Specific Objective 1- To strengthen the institutional capacities of local youth CBOs/ CSOs networks in Kisumu County to effectively engage the County Government of Kisumu for improved financial accountability and service delivery.
Specific Objective 2: – To create awareness on audit report analysis and relevant structures/systems relating to public financial accountability in Kisumu County.
