DEPUTY GOVERNOR CHAIRS CABINET SUB COMMITTEE TO VALIDATE SEXUAL AND GENDER BASED VIOLENCE POLICY

Deputy Governor H.E Prof Philip Kutima today chaired the Cabinet Sub Committee on legislation to discuss and validate the County’s Sexual and Gender based violence policy 2021.

He said he is looking forward to have the policy in place to help address the increasing cases of sexual and gender based violence.

“This policy seeks to address the rampant cases of sexual and gender based violence and teenage pregnancies in the County,” said H.E Prof Kutima.

Madam Vivian Mmbaka, the acting County Attorney said the policy provides remedies to sexual and gender based violence by providing measures needed to contain the menace.

“Through the policy, the County Government of Kakamega is committing itself to fight this menace that is on the rise,” said Madam Mmbaka.

She noted that the policy contains prevention and response strategy to address the vice in the County.

Dr Collins Matemba CECM for Health, County Secretary and Head of Public Service Madam Jacinta Aluoch and her deputy Mr Joshua Kutekha, Chief Officers: Dr Brenda Makokha (Health Projects) and Mr Fanuel Wemali (Health Services), Governance and Strategy Advisor Mr Musa Chibole among other County staff were present.
