The Justice and Human Rights Programme seeks to foster safer communities, promote human rights and improve the system of justice in Kenya. In particular the programme works to: advance access to justice for disadvantaged and marginalized children and young people in Kenya; promote crime prevention among young people and improve the effectiveness of the justice system in the rehabilitation and restoration of young offenders; and inculcate the respect for human rights and promote human rights principles as the basis for peace and development.

Strategic Objective: To provide safer environment for young people in Kenya

Specific Outcomes:

  1. Greater and quick access to justice by young people in difficult circumstances within the focal region of Youth Alive! Kenya and nationally
  2. Safe and peaceful communities providing strong community based prevention and treatment avenues for crime and related forms of antisocial behaviour for children and youth.
  3. Strong policies and legislation aimed at facilitating prevention of crime and improving the quality and approaches in the institutional rehabilitation of young offenders
  4. Deep understanding and strong support for human rights, as the basis of peaceful coexistence and development
