The organization struggles to maintain gender parity, cultural responsiveness and demographic relevance without compromising on technical competence. As per this, we seek to provide opportunities for qualified young people to apply their technical skills and personal abilities in development work.
Youth Alive! Kenya secretariat is a multidisciplinary team of radiant, dynamic and highly talented young people. Displaying diversity in interest and skill, the team boasts an array of professionals from sociologists, to psychologists, accountants, lawyers, IT and development specialists. Gideon Ayodo – Executive Director
He is a holder of Master degree (Counseling), Bachelor of Arts – (Economics and Sociology) and Advanced Diploma in Training, Teaching and Evaluation. Gideon has over 10 years experience in Participatory Programming, Monitoring and Evaluations, Research and Advocacy, and Organizational Development. He has also a cut niche in Gender mainstreaming, Gender Based Violence, Maternal Newborn Child Health, Gender Responsive Budgeting in Health, Reproductive Health, and Family planning.
Peterson Maina – Finance and Administration Officer
Peterson is a graduate from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance and a CPA(K) professional qualification from Visions institute of Professional Studies. He is self-driven and hardworking young professional with good inter personal, organizational and analytical skills . Peterson has over eight years’ experience in Financial management specifically in the NGO sector.
Norman is an aggressive energetic young man with insight and vision in life. He has developed a responsible and mature approach to any task undertaken or any situation presented. Norman considers himself quite sociable, outgoing and easy to interact with. Norman adds an aura of life to the team at Youth Alive! Kenya through his strong belief that team work results in excellent performance.
Collins has a vast of experience in project monitoring and evaluation coupled with project planning, management and resource mobilization. He is a self-driven and hardworking young professional with good inter personal skills. He has worked in Urban informal settlement for the last 5 years with a special focus on women and youth while paying a keen attention to shift from the central to county governance structures as provided by devolution. Collins sees devolution as an opportunity for the youth and women.
Marita Agufana – Programs Associate
Marita holds a B.A in Development Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project management. She is passionate about training and development, and working with communities has enabled her strive to see lives change in a positive way. She is vibrant, outgoing and down to earth making her approachable. She believes in servant leadership and that everyone granted equal opportunities can achieve the best of who they are hence drive positive change and development in the society. Marita is currently pursuing her masters in Diplomacy, Development and International Security.
Joanne Velo – Programs Associate
Joanne holds a Bachelors Degree in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi and currently pursuing her PMP certification with Project Management Institute PMI (US). She is passionate about the youth and focused on ensuring that the youth exploit their potential. She is social, outgoing and very easy to deal with. Her dream is to see more youth empowered and aware of their rights and available opportunities.
Moraa Gichaba – Projects Associate
Moraa is a social development scientist, with bachelors degree in development studies and a diploma in social work, community development and project planning.She is passionate about giving back to the society. She believes that working with the youth is awesome but working with women is more fascinating. Her future plan is to see a society that is not inferior but empowered.
Victoria has exceptional interpersonal skills aimed at handling customer queries by keeping customer service directives in mind. She holds a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Kenyatta University. She is highly experienced in identifying the administrative needs of the organization and providing them with planned activities to meet their operational needs. She is passionate, courteous, organized and willing to serve the youth and the entire organization diligently and efficiently.
Matilda has completed a bachelors degree in social work from the university of Nairobi and also holds a diploma in youth development from the University of Nairobi. She is passionate about working with communities especially with women and the youth. She is hardworking, self driven and passionate about impacting the lives of communities positively.
Dorice is a community mobilizer who influences positive change in the community. She is hardworking woman and keen on getting the job done. Having worked in the informal settlements, she clearly understands its dynamics, and is keen to see people’s lives improve hence a holistic view to human development. She has been able to create awareness on Gender based violence, child protection, sanitation and reproductive health in her community. This has enabled her create a good rapport with both the community residents and leadership.
Alfayo is an experienced Community Development Mobilizer, Educator, Planner and Facilitator with thirteen years of experience working in informal settlements on different projects ranging from Governance, Democracy, Youth/ Women and HIV/AIDS. He is self-motivated, adaptable, team player and a fast learner.
Faith Simotwo Zainabu
Faith holds BSc. (Hons) in Mathematics and Computer Science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Peace Studies from the United Nations University for Peace. She is also a Mandela Washington Fellow 2016 and has over four years’ experience in the non-profit sector. She is passionate about women and aspires to build a strong network of women leaders across Rural and Urban communities in Kenya, Africa and beyond. .
